The Rides of The Rider's Workshop
Natural Bridge Virginia Tour ![]() |
Two Day Weekend Workshops from Thurmont, Maryland to NATURAL BRIDGE, VIRGINIA The Natural Bridge Workshop is structured for intermediate/advanced riders who have least 7000 miles experience. This Workshop is slightly longer and more challenging than the Canaan Valley Workshop. It’s also a very beautiful Tour of south-central Virginia and mountainous sections of West Virginia.
The Workshop begins at 7:30 AM at the Cozy Inn in Thurmont, Maryland. You’ll be glad to know I am punctual. From there we ride a very short distance for breakfast and where introductions are made. I'll review the highlights of the day’s Tour. I'll also review the Course Syllabus and your wireless radio. Then we’ll disappear onto a selection of beautiful Invisible Roads geared to challenge but never overwhelm you. My goal is always to inspire you!
Day One is roughly 280 miles long to our destination. The Invisible Roads we travel are technical, as they are beautiful. We'll be riding through much of Virginia "horse country south along the east slope of the fabulous Blue Ridge Mountain. I have chosen each mile of this Workshop. It will require the lower gears for safely and control. Along most the way you'll be listening to my instruction through your radio earbuds. My emphasis is always precision and smoothness. Our destination is The Natural Bridge Hotel outside of Lexington, Virginia.
We'll have plenty of breaks along the way for "chalk talk" and to just take in the scenery. Lunch is at the Stone Abby in Sperryville, Virginia around 12:30. We'll arrive at Natural Bridge in late afternoon. Drinks and dinner are around 7PM. There are often other tour groups staying at the hotel so there is often a lot of banter out on the veranda.
Sunday breakfast is at 7:00 AM at the hotel and after some pictures are taken, it's side-stands up around 8:30. We've got lots of riding to do too!
Day Two is roughly 320 miles long. It's a challenging, and slightly more spirited ride up the west slope of the Blue Ridge over numerous ridge lines and across many remote valleys. One rider said to me, "Awesome! These roads are King Size!" I agree and I'd like to show them to you. |
