The Upper Mississippi Valley Workshop is structured for intermediate/advanced riders who are interested in becoming skilled in street riding.   The Workshop is conducted mostly in Southwest Wisconsin in some of the most interesting, and challenging motorcycling terrain found anywhere in the country.

The Workshop begins at 7:30 AM at the Little Oscar's Restaurant in Hampton, MN. You’ll be glad to know I am very punctual. Over breakfast (and some of the best pancakes anywhere,) I'll review the highlights of the day’s Tour, the Course Syllabus, and your two way radio. From the restaurant, we'll head over high ground, then down to the Mississippi. We'll cross over at Wabasha and ride into the town of Nelson, WI. The Workshop now begins in earnest as we set up for one curve after another.. after another.

Day One is roughly 230 miles long to our destination. The terrain is a mixture of high ground with panoramic vistas. Then with usually one turn, it's down into forested valleys and ravines (called coulees) by Amish dairy farms too numerous to count. Their pastures are quaint with a brook or two running through them. (They don't call Wisconsin the Dairy State for nothing!) Around noon we'll have lunch in Arcadia, WI. During the Tour you'll be listening to my mellifluous voice as I give instruction through your radio earbuds. My emphasis will be on smoothness and how best to take a curve. Our destination is the Olde Town Inn, in Westby, WI. Dinner next door is at 7.

Day Two begins at 7 AM. We'll saddle up and ride a short distance for breakfast. After breakfast, we'll ride over to Wildcat Mountain, then down along the Mississippi for several miles before we head inland and back into the hills. By lunch we will have ridden roughly 170 miles.

After lunch, the entire Course Syllabus will have been reviewed and discussed. Riders needing an early start for home can easily access I-90 for points east. The rest of us ride on back to Nelson where the Workshop concludes around 4:00 PM. It’s easy to return to the greater Twin Cities from there.
