The Rides of The Rider's Workshop
Canaan Valley Tour
|
Two Day Weekend Workshops from Thurmont, Maryland to CANAAN VALLEY, WEST VIRGINIA The Canaan Valley Workshop is structured for intermediate/advanced riders with at least 7000 miles of riding experience and who are interested in knowing the skills to become great riders. The emphasis is on precision and smoothness. The pace is a relaxed groove. We'll cover the 4 states of Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia. The Workshop begins at 7:30 AM at the Cozy Inn in Thurmont, Maryland. You’ll be glad to know I am punctual. From there we ride a very short distance for breakfast and where introductions are made. I'll review the highlights of the day’s Tour. I'll also review the Course Syllabus and your wireless radio. Then we’ll disappear onto a selection of beautiful Invisible Roads geared to challenging but are never overwhelming. My goal is to inspire you! We'll have plenty of breaks along the way where sections of the Course Syllabus are reviewed. Lunch, around 12:30, is at Tari’s Café in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. The food is great. We'll arrive at the Lodge between 6:00 and 6:30 PM. Drinks and dinner is usually at 7:30. After dinner you you’ll sleep well. Sunday breakfast, at 7:00 AM, is in the main lodge and side-stands up is around 8:30. About an hour out, we'll arrive at Seneca Rocks, West Virginia where I like to take a group photograph . From there it’s more Invisible Roads along cool streams to a late lunch at Sal’s Italian Bistro in Edinburg, Virginia. Sal is literally “off the boat” from Naples, Italy. The food is excellent! Day Two is again roughly 250 miles long to Point of Rocks, Maryland. The Invisible Roads we'll travel are more open, and mountainous. They're excellent for practicing what was learned the day before. The pace is slightly brisker too. We'll ride over several huge mountain ridges. The views are of wilderness areas and the scenery is most inspiring.
After lunch, the entire Syllabus will have been reviewed and discussed. Riders needing an early start for home can easily access I-81. The rest of us ride on to Point of Rocks, Maryland where the Workshop concludes around 5:00 PM. It’s easy run back to Thurmont for riders wanting to spend the night before returning home. The Canaan Valley Workshop is a wonderful 500 mile riding experience. You'll meet fellow motorcyclists and be introduced to the skills you need to have to become an accomplished street rider.
